Petition Against Sir Robert Stout's Return.
(PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.} Wellington, This Day. A petition was lodged by Mr Edwards this morning, acting on behalf of the petitioners, against the return of Sir Robert Stout on a number of grounds, alleging generally corrupt and illegal practices. The formal announcement of the poll was made on December Ist, and twenty-eight days are allowed by the Act for lodging a petition. The petition was received by post this morning; but in the Returning Officer's absence was not opened.
