I Per Press Association.] Donedin, December 29. The Chess Congress was continued to-day. The following are the results : —Smith beat Edwards. Mellorbeat Lelievre. Brown beat Pleasants. — Pleasants opened the Scotch gambit. On the twelfth move, Brown, sacrificing a bishop, gained a very strong attacking position. Pleasants played a tough, defensive game, but eventually had to resign on the fortieth move. Barnes beat Borton. Hookham beatMouat. Cleland had a bye.
