ASHURST RACES.
The above meeting took place yesterday, and was the most successful tho Club has yet held. The attendance was large, and the racing was first class, the finishes being very close. Following are results:— Hurdles, H miles.—Dorothy, 1; Active, 2; Seddou, 8. Nat also ran. Dividend, £6 2s. . Flying Handicap, 6 furlongs. —Mairua, 1; Cyrus, 2; Otakapau and Beeswing, dead heat. Freewill also started. Dividend, £i 14m. Manawatu Gorge Handicap, H miles. —Hark, 1; Lady Isabel ami Trickery, dead heafc Karamea and Dawn also started. Dividend, £2 9s. Maiden Plate, one mile and a distance. —Gold Cup, 1; Comfort, 2; Barman, 3. Dagworth, Merton, Seddon, Papa, Mangatangaroa, Trickery, Cora, Totia, and Hippo also ran. Dividend, £2 6s. Siberia Handicap, 5 furlongs.—Cyrus, 1; Marama, 2; Mairua, 8. Lady Isabel, Otakapau, Kiriwai, and Roll Call also ran. Dividend, £2 16s. Ladies' Bracelet, lj miles. —Donald Dinnie, 1; Nat, 2; Squib, 8. Dividend, i's 2s. Pohangina Handicap, 1 mile.—Pihanga, 1; Mairua, 2; Freewill, 3. Mangatangaroa also started. Dividend, 345. Scurry Stakes, 4 furlongs. —Never Return and Marama, dead heat; Comfort 8. Cyrus, Moenga, Outlaw, and Kiriwai also ran. Dividends, £1 Marama and £2 Never Return.
