PALMERSTON RACES.
The weather was fine for the second day's racing of the aunual meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club. Over 2000 people were present, and everything passed off most successfully. £3628 were put through the machine, making a total of £10,720 for the two days. The following are the results :— Summer Handicap, 6 furlongs.-Va-riety, 1; Monte Carlo, 2; Musketeer, 3. Won by half a length. Dividend, £8 4s. Second Hurdles, lj miles.—Oaklands, 1; Caloola, 2; Unity, 3. Won comfortably. Dividend, £3 4s. Hack Hurdles, 1£ miles. —Spreydon, 1; Lonely, 2; Nanakea, 8. Won easily. Dividend, £8 ss. Hack Flying, 6 furlongs.—Magazine, 1; Lady Isabel, J; Strike, \ Won by three-quarters of a length. Dividend, £8 Bs. President's Handicap, 1| miles. —Au Revoir, 1; Monte Carlo, 2; Gun Cotton, 8. Won by half a length. Time, 2min 15 8-sth sec. Dividend, £2 18s. Hack Flat, 1 mile.—Cyrus, 1; Pumau, 2; Southern Queen, 8. Dividend, £116s. Farewell Handicap, 6 furlongs.—King Harry and Gun Cotton, a dead heat. Dividends, £1 ls Gun Cotton, 15s King Harry.
