Deputation to the Minister of Lands.

(PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, December 20. A deputation waited on the Minister of Lands to-day in reference to several matters of interest to the Eangitikei district. Mr McKenzie told them that! | £1250 was voted for Vinegar Hill and a similar sum would be put on the estimates next year on condition that the local body raised the remainder of the cost, estimated at £6000. With respect to the Otairi Bridge, the local bodies must further consider the plans and estimates and say what they would do. The deputation expressed themselves satisfied, and then urged the construction of a road into the Kiwitea district from Pakihikura village to the Sandon Small Farm Association, whose secretary had levanted with their money. They also pleaded for consideration, and asked for time to enable them to retain their suburban sections, for which they would otherwise have to pay from £5 to ±15 per quarter acre. The Minister promised to consider both these matters.
