Wanganui Education Board
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Education Board commenced yesterday morning, the date having been altered so as not to clash with the holidays. Present — Messrs Notuian (in the chair), Sanson, Fry, Baker, Bridge, Hurley, Carson, Beckett, and Boss. The following appointments were dealt with in Committee : — Cheltenham — Letcer from R. C. Teinpler, resigning.— The vacancy was left to the Executive to deal with. Brunswick — Letter from Committee re resignation of teacher, and from Mrs Howie, requesting to be transferred to another school. — Resolved that Mrs Howie be written to asking for a definite resignation. The question re appointment to another school would be considered by the Board. An application from Mr L. T. Watkin for payment for the instruction of pupil teachers was declined, It was resolved that another letter be sent to the Minister requesting that the capitation be paid on the basis of the June returns. The resolution re Junior Assistants, proposed by Mr Sanson at the previous meeting, was seconded by Fry, and carried by four to one. . The date for the election of Board niemberß was fixed for March Ist. Mr Fry gave notice to move that tbe date of meeting of the Board be altered to the last day of the month instead of the last Monday. It was decided to close the Board's office from December to tbe Bth January.— -Chronicle.
