Perils of the Sea

♦ (per press association). Gisuohnb, December 18. The large boat, which was reported to be missing last week with men named Harris and Morrison, and the ! latter's wife and a Chinaman on board, has turned up on the beach at Wairoa, Hawkes' Bay, where the crew beached their craft on Saturday, after a venturesome voyage. Soon after leaving Gisborne on Sunday morning a heavy gale sprang up, and. the boat's mast and dingy were carried away. The vessel was buffeted about at the mercy of a heav}' sea until Tuesday evening, when the crew found themselves off East Cape. They rigged a jury mast and sailed south to Portland Island, where another gale springing up they sheltered until Saturday, when a start was made for Napier. In Hawke's Bay the sea increased, and the boat was run before it and beached, the Maoris generously providing for the wants of the navigators, who were suffering much from exposure.
