Mr Pirani, M.H.K., waited on the Minister of Lands yesterday to ascertain why the proposed drainage districts iv the Kairanga and Oroua Downs districts had not been gazetted. Mr McKenzie said the matter was being pushed ou, and the Order-in-Council would appear in next Thursday's Gazette. Mr Firani also brought before the Minister the advisability of building a bridge across the Cro.ua river at Apiti, pointing out the large amount of Crown Lands being opened up in the locality, and the heayy liability the settlers had undertaken in special rates for roading the district. Mr McKenzie promised to go into the question, and ses what was the best course to undertake in the matter. — Standard.
