The Public Trust Office, constituted by " The Public Trust Ofllco Act, 1872," has been since much enlarged iv its functions by amonding Acts, to meet growing roQuiromcuts. The Amendment Act of 1601 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss tp estates from investments at tho discretion of tho l'ublic Trustoo, and insures the regular payment of tbo interest. tuc Security and Fidelity of tho rub. lie Trustee's administration must bo considered of the utmost importauco to every porson contemplating the appointment of a trustee. Tho colony guarantees the fidelity of tho administration, and Guarantees aISO the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at the option of tho Public Trustee. Tho Colony Guarantees also, on tiie capital fuuds arising for investment out of the properties placed iv tho Public Trust Ofllco, a common rate of interest, to bo paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The valuo of this guarantee is in the Guarantee of the Colony against lobs from investments in bad or Insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in investment, and for tbo regular and punctual payment of tho interest, free of all charoes of the Public Trtist Office. In tho appointment of Trustees there must always bo serious concern as to the security of the capital funds: and the larger the capital funds the greater must be tho concern for security, and the less for a high rato of interest. The Public Trustee cannot dio, cannot leavo tho colony, cannot become disqualified, or involved in private difficulties; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absence render necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, tho offioe solicitor's advice without expense to tho ostatos.
