The following appears in the Auckland Weekly News of to-day's date :-" H.M. Feilding.— You are quite correct in stat* ing that the Australian three mile record is 5m 2o£s ; but it was n<Jt made in the Champion Stakes. The tecord in qnestion was accomplished by Trident in the Canterbury Plate run at Fleaungton 111 November, 1886."
