Wellington Land Board

The usual monthly meeting of the Wellington Land Board was held yesterday. Present The; Commissioner, and Messrs Fitzherbert, Fisher, and Firani.

Amongst a number of titles granted were—F. Newman, M; 'Hartj and B. Speers, Pohangina ;S. Graham, Apiti; C. Mackie, W. and W. H. Cannell, Ongo; A. J. Hawks and F. "Kite, Bunny thorpe. A transfer was granted from Mr Cowan to Chas. McKinnon, Apiti., Capitalisation approved—G. launders, Pohangina. • -. A transfer from T; Etherington to Arbuckle, of Section 4; Block 11, Pohangina, was held oyer, as 35 acres more should be in grass./ 1

A transfer was granted from,Mr Calthrop to Messrs Hair, of section 14, Block 9, Apiti. j . ■ , _ Mr Pearce was granted': a. lease of municipal reserves 4 and 17,- township of Pohangina, at £2 10s per annum from year to year, without compensation for improvements. , , /; The question of accepting surrenders of sections in special settlements was held over for a foil meeting.

It was decided to recommend - the Government to allow D. Wilkie to alter his tenure of occupation for the right to for cash. It was decided to approve of the. transfer of section 17, Block VIII, Apiti, to Mr Buckman, subject to completion in twelve'months froin the date of taking up the land. ;

It was decided to inform. H., W. Welch that he could apply for the section adjoining hisQwn in Forest Reserve at the sale on December 28th, as the Board could not see ito way to sell part ‘or whole of the section beforehand. ; / ' Mr Pirani asked the Commissioner if it was possible toi allow ’. Messrs Hitchman and Hirst to purchase reserves fronting their sections at Pohangina, as the land was being washed away by the river!—Mr Baker replied that under the Public Works Act, reserves could only be leased yearly or purchased by auction, and he would offer the land in question in the latter manner shortly.—Standard.
