The fruit market is active. Over 8000 bunches bananas, ex Taviuni, have been cleared at prices from 2s 6d to 5s bunch ; peanuts, l^d to Ikd ; cocoanuts, 10s sack ; pines, 12a to 15s. Nelson red currants are worth 6s per quarter case; gooseberries, 3s 6d ; cherries, from 13s to 20s; Melbourne cherry plums are worth ss. Poultry is dull, and prices have reduced. Fowls command, 3s; ducks, 4s 6d ; geese, 5s 6d ; turkeys, 7s to 8s pair. Fungus sells readily at 3d per lb.
