Two Germans have been arrested in Boitrges, capital of the department of Cher, on suspicion of sending the infernal machines to the Emperor of Germany aud German Chancellor. Sofia, December 2. Wanhofl, a former Bulgarian officer, has been arrested on a charge of being concerned in the plot to murder Prince Ferdinand. Accused, who one of the ringleaders, has confessed his guilt. London, December 3. Mr R. A. Yerburgh and other members of the House of Commons are founding country co-operative banks on similar lines to those on the Continent. Major^General Sir Alexander Cunninpham, of the Bengal Engineers, is dead. He was a celebrated military officer, and was created Companion of the Star of India in 1871. Captain Samuels, a Bon of the New South Wales Agent-General, who was shot in the leg while shooting at Ennis moore, has had the injured limb amputated and is now out of danger. A remarkable case is now before one of the Courts. The facts so far as disclosed seemed to show that many years ago a women named Rachael Cullena, in order to avoid her creditors, personated a man and worked as a plumber In 1866 she married|a woman named Sophia Newland, who gave birth to four chilnren. Mrs Clarke, a widow, is now claiming an estate from William Cullena, one of the children, and a relative of the plaintiff's, on the ground that Newlands children must have been illegitimate. The British torpedo catcher Havoc steamed 27 knots an hour on the trial trip. This speed is claimed to be the fastest ever attained by any vessel in the world. The Fenians have issued a manifesto denying their complicity m the recent outrage in Dublio, and blaming a malcontent section. Beblin, December 3. The Reichstag has raised duties, principally on Russian imports, by 50 per cent. In the Reichstag, Herr Lieber, the Catholic leader, said that if the Pope were friendly to the Rnsgo. French alliance it would not deter the German Catholics from remaining loyal to the Kaiser.In the new tariff the duty on Russian flax is not touched. Washington, December 3. The general tone of the President's message is friendly towards Great Britain. The influenza epidemic is raging throughout the country. The Reiohsrath has been closed in conseqeance of it. NkwYork. December 3. Word has been received that the rebel fleet, under Admiral De Mello, has escaped from Rio Bay, the vessels passing out in the face of a raking fire from the forts. The Admiral intends to attack the weak points along the coast.
