We are informed that the Customs revenue for the Colony for November is £128,117, or about £10,000 less than the previous month. Auckland contributed £29,324 ; Dunedin, £27,---410; Wellington, £27,316; Lyttelton and Christchurch, £21,541. Total for the eight months of the year, £1,079,276, or £19,276 above the estimate for that period. The beer duty for November is £5,579 ; Auckland paid £1,297 ; Dunedin, £1,216 ; Christchurch, £1,132; Wellington, £620. Total for eight months, £38,470, or £1,529 below the estimate for that period. The fact that the Customs revenue should fall off in one month bo large a sum as £10,000 is certainly not a very obvious sign of prosperity, and if this continues the calculations of the Colonial Treasurer will be woefully at fault by the end of the financial year, in March next. Of course the figures now quoted show that there is a surplus of £19,276, but two more months like November will more than swamp that.
