THE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Government institution to afford, at low rates Of Commission, ft secure and convenient recourse for tboso who, desirous of forming trusts in tbo colony, cannot satisfactorily appoint private trustees or executors, and for persons unable or unwilling to uudertake or continue tbe administration of tbe trusts accepted by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by "TUe Public Trust Office Act, 1872," bos I boon Binco mucb enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. The Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, providoß absolute security against loss to estates from investments at the discretion of the I'ublic Trustee, and insures the regular payment of tho interest. Tho Security and Fidelity of the Pub. lio Trustee's administration must be con6idored ot the utmost importance to every person contemplating tho appointment of a trustee. The colony guaranteea thefiMMU <» tho administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at the option of the Public Trustee. The Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in tho Public Trust Office, a common rate of interost, to be paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The valno of this guarantee is in tho Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or lnsutlkiont securities, aud against loss from delay in investment, and for tho regular and punotual payment of the interest, free of all elMrges of the Public Trust Office. In the appointment ot Trustees there must always be serious concern as to the security of the capital funds: and tho larger the capital funds tho greater must be the concern for security, and tho loss for ft high rato of interest. Tho Public Trustee cannot die, cannot leave tho colony, cannot become ais- . qualified, or involved in private difficulties; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, doath and absence render necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, tho offloe solicitor's advice without expense to the estates. By all who know or have experienced the contingencies of private trusteeships the#« advantages must bo appreciated.
