Manawatu Road Board

The adjourned meeting of the above was held at Palmerston yesterday. Present—- Wardens Knight (Chairman), Luxford, and Stevens. Correspondence was read as follows : — From Manchester Boad Board, requesting payment of proportion of the cost of the Aorangi bridge. \ From Land and Survey Department, forwarding deferred third schedule^. — The engineer was instructed to prepare schedules of work required in connection with the deferred thirds. The following tenders were -accepted :>— James' Line East, formation, Ac., D.^Sullivan, £29 10s; Bunny-thorpe-Eaiianga road, P. Regan, 2s lid per yard for metalling, and 3s 6d per chain for trimming; dewberry line 17£ chains, formation, bridging, and metalling, J. O'Connor, £74 15s ; Robert's line, formation, metalling, etc., 27s per chain. The remainder of the tenders for other works were declined. The Engineer reported that in connection with the proposed drainage work on the Bunny thorpe - Stoney Creek road some culverting would be required. — It was resolved to instruct the engineer to draw up specifications and call tenders for the work required, the clerk to inform the Railway Engineer of the proposed work before any further steps be taken. The following accounts were passed for payment : — Manawatu County Council, £458 ss ; Manchester Road Board, £289 15s ; sundries, £5. The Board then adjourned.
