(FSB PBBBS ASSOCIATION}. Wellington, November 30. Tho Trades and Labor Council have sent a telegram to Danedin confreres, congratulating them on the result of the election. The shareholders of the Wellington Woollen Company held a ballot to»night for election of directors in consequence of the resignation of several of the Soard through informalities of various kinds. Mr W. Fitzberberfc was re-elected along Messrs Frouce and Barter were the other candidates. Mr T. K. Macdonald, chairman, who had also resigned, did not seek re election, with Messrs Clarice, Gibbp, and Edmonds. The Colonel Secretary intends to leave for Europe immediately after the full meeting of Cabinet, which will probably be held next week. He retains his portfolio. A telegram received from Nelson states that Alfred Smith, second Steward on board the Wamui, was missed during the voyage from Wellington to Nelson. It is feared be has been drowned. His parents reside in the Mount Eden district, Auckland. The Coptic sailed this {afternoon for London. Included in (he cargo is 4554 casks, and 543 kegs of butter shipped at Wellington. The ballot for 39 allotments of Lake Elleamere lands, lease in-perpetuity, was taken this morning. There were 495 applications. Auckland, November 30. A young man Austin Cullins was drowned off Wharehine yesterday. A punt in which he started was found bottom upwards. The body was recovered at low water this morning, At Huntly some person unknown attempted to burn down the dwelling house of J, Bond, on Tuesday night. Kerosene was poured over a bock wall and ignited but owing to insufficient inflammable fluid, the fire died out, leaving the spot charred.
