SECOND DAY FEILDING RACES
The attendance at the second day's rnces was not so large as the first day. The racing was good, and the winners were hard to pick. £2555 were put through the totalisator, making a total of £5244 for both days, a falling off of £47 from the amount put through last year. The.secretary, Mr E. Goodbebere, was in attendance yesterday, and performed bis duties in his usual efficient manner, as did all the other officials. The following are the results of the events run after wo went lo press yesterday :— Second Hack Hurdles of 20sovs. One mile and a half. Mr T. J. Collins* Morag, Oat 71b (Sweeney) 1 Mr C. Chubbin's LonelylOst(Holmee) 2 Mr T. Scott's Waituna, list 111 b (Scott) 3 Nanakia, Omahu, and Seddon, also started. Nanakia took the lead at the start, followed by Lonely, the former of which gave place to Morag coming into the straight. Passing the stand for the first time the order was Lonely, Nanakia, Seddon, Morag, Omahu, and Waituna. Going round to the back of the course Lonely still led. Coming into the straight for the second time Morag came to the front and galloped past the judge's stand an easy winner by about a length and a half. Totalisator £327 ; Dividend, £3 Is Time, 2min 58 1-5 sees Waitunft and his owner, Mr T. Scott, were disqualified for six months for inconsistent running. The Stewards met last night to reconsider their decision, and it was resolved to rescind the resolution, as there were doubts concerning the running. Manchester Handicap, of 100 soys; second horse 10 soys from the stakes. Mr E. Calthrop's Monte Carlo, Bst 51b (Lett) 1 Mr A Lovejoy's Musketeer, 7st 31b (Watt) 2 Mr C. A. Dime's Musket, 9st 81b > 4 Also started —Krina, Variety, St. Laura, Poinsettia. St. Laura got the best of a good start, but, as they passed the stand for the first time gave way to Variety. At the bend leading into the straight, Monte Carlo came with a rush and took command, winning by about three lengths. Musketeer and Musket racing for second place, Krina fourth. Totalisator, L 638; dividend, L 4 3s; Time, 2min 13 3?sth sec. A protest was entered against Monte Carlo for alleged crossing, but was dismissed. Second Hack Flat Handicap, of 20 soys ; One mile. Mr T. Bennett's Fihangn, 7st 21b (Hall) 1 Mr J. Better's Magazine, Bst 61b (Lindsay) 2 Mr F. C. Collins Morag, 6et 121 b (Myers) 3 Also started—lrish Twist, Bloomsbury, Wewe, Comfort. Morag got the best of the start and led to the back of the course, where liloonisbury went to the front, but the pace was too fast and he soon fell away beaten. Irish Twist, Magazine, Pihanga, and Morag, raced in a bunch into the straight, where Pihanga went to the front and won easily. Totalisator, L 243; dividend, Lls 12s. Time, lmin 52 sees. Railway Stakes, ot 40sovs ; second horse Ssovs from the stakes. One mile and a distance. Mr D. Knight's Prioress, Bst 111 b (Lett) 1 Mr E. Jackman's King John, 6st 121 b (Teaze) 2 Mr T. O'Neill's Daisy Clipper, 7st (Johnston) 3 Also started—Musketeer, Cordelia, King Harry, and Avis. From a splendid start King John, King Harry, Daisy Clipper, and Avis led in the order named and kept the same position to the back of the course. Coming round the bend to straight Prioress was let out and after an exciting finish won by a length. Time, 2min lsec. Totalisator £403 ; Dividend, £4 Bb. Final Handicap Hack Flying, of 25soys ; Becond horse saovs from the stakeß, Five furlongs. Mr T. Bennett's Pihanga. 7st 111 b (Hall) 1 Mr W. Hunia's Marama, 9at 51b (Holmes) 2 Mr J. Green's Bloomsbury, Bst 71b (Morris) 8 Also started—Cyrus, Bynda, Comfort, Westoe, and Cora, Marama jumped away at the start, closely followed by Bloomsbury, and these with Pihanga led into the straight. After a splendid finish the race ended as above, the winner getting home by about half a length. Totalisator L 34 7; Dividend, L 3 Is. Time, lmin 6 4-ssecs.
