The Fielding Star. Published Daily. "THURSDAY, NOV. 30, 1 893. CONSOLATION.

Although tbo Liberal Party have undoubtedly won a tremendous victory " all down the line " it does not at all follow that they will have it all their own way in Parliament. We are aware that many of the electors, who belong to the Opposition t J arty, are somewhat despondent, and are taking a rather gloomy view of the future, which they look at with feelings of vague alarm. We would liko these faint hearted ones to pluck up their courage. The fact of the Liberal party having been elected in such a majority, perhaps the greatest ever seen in any colony, is a direct Bource of weakness. Already there are two leaders of the Liberal party each witha distinct following, the Hon Mr Seddon and Sir Robert Stout, while their parties are again subdivided into smaller ones by insular or local relations, while the worst bone of contention of all will be the great question of the liquor traffic. As a leader Mr Seddos demands and requires the most implicit obedience from his followers, but it is a moot question whether members, the new members especially, will be inclined to give that to him, when by an " easy transition " they can go over to Sir Robert Stout. Had the Liberal party gone back with a bare working majority, the outlook would have been sad indeed for the Opposition, but, as it is, that section of the political community have very little to fear.
