Four men haye been arrested for the murder of a man named Glasgow, who died Irom the effects of isjuries received in a tight in which the accused took part.. The examination of the plaintiff in the Speight Syui libel action has concluded. It occupied six days. Adelaide, November 29. Tho Labour party have advised Mr Wood, M.L.A., whose name has been mentioned in connection with a bigamous marriage, to resign his seat in the House. Wood a few days ago requested the police to investigate the charge made against turn, and the authorities are considering the matter. Consequent on the action of the police in the suppression of betting the Metropolitan Jockey Club has cancelled the licenses of the bookmakers and refunded the fees paid by them. In the Legislative Assembly a motion, requiring the Government to call upon the Colonial Treasurer to arrange for intercolonial free trade with any or all of the colonies, was carried by 31 to 8 Sydney, This Daj. A serious melee has taken place at Bourke, between rival factions of Afghan camel dnvers. One man received thirty wounds. A number of men were arrested and six. of them have baen committed for trial. Henry J. Gerritsen, a membor of the firm of Oetzes and G-erntsen, produce merchants of London, is visiting Sydney. In the course of an interview he said hi? firm had had largo transactions with Aus tralia nnd New Zealand, but had cut its connection with New Zetland owing to the farmers selling a large quantity of cheese to buyers whose object was to make something on the sale to the London merchants. He sail bis visit wai chiefly in connection with the butter trade.
