THE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Government institution to afford, at low rates Of Commission, a secure and convenient recourse for tlioso who, desirous of forming trusts in tho colony, cannot satisfactorily appoint privato trustees or executors, and for persons unable or unwilling to undertako or continue the administration of the trusts accepted by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by "The Public Trußt Oflico Act, 1872," has boon sinco much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to moot growing rocjuirtmioutfl. Tho Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from , investments at tho discretion of tbe l'ubhc Trustee, aud insures tho regular payment of the interest. The Security and Fidelity of the Pub. He Trustee's administration must bo considered of the utmost importance to overy person contemplating tbe appointment of a trustee. Tlio colony guarantees the fidelity of the administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at tho option of the Public Trustee. The Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in tho Public Trust Office, ft common rate of interest, to bo paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The value of this guarantee ia In the Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or Insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in investment, and for the regular and punotual payment of tho interest, free of all cliargea oftnt Public Trust Office. In the appointment of Trustees there must always be serious concern as to the security of the capital funds: and the larger tho capital funds the greater must be the concern for security, and tho less for a high rate of interest. The Public Trustee cannot die, cannot leave the colony, can not becomo disqualified, or involved in privato difficulties; and cannot be distrusted. In privato trusteeships, death and absence render necessary unnierous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, tho omoe solicitor's advico without expense to the estates.
