JHE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Government iustitutiou to afford, ut low rates Of commission! a secure and couvunieut recourse for those who, desirous of formiDg trusts in the colony, cannot satisfactorily appoint private trustees or executors, and for persons unable or uuwilling to undertake or continue the administration of the trusts accepted by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by "The Public Trust Ollico Act, 1872," has been since much onlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. The Amendment Act of 1691 facilitates ad.ministratiou, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at tho discretion of the l'ublic Trustee, and insures the regular payment of the interest. The Security and Fidelity of the Pub. lie Trußtee's administration must bo considered of tho utmost importance to evory person contemplating the appointment of a trustee. The colony guarantees the fidelity of tho administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds iuvostod at tho option of tho Public Trustee. Tho Colony Guarantees also, on the capital fuads arising for investment out of tbe properties placed iv the Public Trust Office, « common rate of interest, to bo paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The valuo of this guarantee is in the Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments iv bod or insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in investment, and for tho regular and punctual pay* raent of tho interest, free of all charges of tn» Public Trust Office. Iv the appointment of Trustees there must always be serious concern as to the security of the capital funds; and the larger the capital fuuda tho greater must berftae concern for security, and the less for aySgu rate of interest. The Public Trustee cannot die, cannot leave the colony, cannot become disqualified, or involved in privato difficulties; aud cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absence rendor necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, the offioe solicitor's advice without exponso to the cstateß. By all who know or have experienced tho contingencies of private trußteaMw theM advantages must bo appreciated.
