Holidays and political excitement have had an effect upon the volume of business throughout the week, and trado is of a moat sluggish character, without any features of interest to note. The grain market is entirely without alteration in values and de. mand. We quote — Roller flour, £8 to £8 10s per ton ; stone process, £7 15.4 to £8 ; bran, £3 ss; pollard, £3 10s ; whole fowl wheat, 2s 9d to 2s 1 Id ; broken, 2s 6d to 2s 7d ,- prime short oats, 2s 7d to 2s 7£d ; fair long feed to good short do, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; oatmeal, £11 to Lll 10s ; good oaten sheaf chaff, L 4 10s; maize, 3s 6d; feed barley, 2s 8d; beans, 3s 8d; blue peas, 3s 9d ; split peas, 15s ; pearl barley, 18s; prime Melbourne onions, 16s ; best old Derwent potatoes, L 7 10s to L 8 ; hams and bacon, 8d ; bacon, 7£d ; hams, 9d to 9sd ; prime old cheese, s£d ; new make is expected in a fortnight ; fresh butter is overstocked and sales are made as follows :— Best separator, 9d to lid; dairy, 4d to Bd, according to quality ; for salted samples there is really no demand, and holders are prepared to accept offers from 4d per Ib. Sales have been made of the following spring products :— New round pota toes, 12s ; kidneys, 12s 6d to 16s per cwt ; cucumbers, 4s per dozen ; rhubarb, up to 6s per dozen ; gooseberries, 4s per quart; red currants, 12s per half case ; green peas, 8d to 9d per peck. The Tarawera, from Sydney, landed about 500 cases of oranges, which realised from 4s to 5s 6d per case. Poultry is plentiful and is inclined to reduce in value.
