THE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Govomuiont institution to afford, at low rates Of commission, a socuro and couvoniont rccourao for tlioso who, desirous of forming trusts in tho colony, cannot satisfactorily appoint private trustees or executors, and for persons uuablo or unwilling to undoitako or continue tho administration of the trusts acceptod by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by " Tbo Public Trust Office Act, 1872," has been since much enlargod in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing renuiromonts. The Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at tho discretion of the l'ublio Trustee, and insures tho regular payment of the interest. Tho Security and Fidelity of the Pub. lio Trustee's administration must bo considered of tho utmost importance to every person contemplating the appointment of a trustee. Tho colony guarantees the fidelity of the administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at tho option of tho Public Trustee. Tho Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in tho Public Trust Office, a common rate of interest, to be paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The value of this guarantee is in tho Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in investment, and for the rogular and punctual payment of tho interest, free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. In the appointment of Trustees there must always be serious concern as to the security of the capital funds; and tbo larger tho capital funds tho greater must bo tho concern for Becurity, and the loss for a high rate of interest. The Public Trustee cannot die, cannot leave tho colony, cannot become disqualified, or involved m private difflcultio.B ; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absence rondor nocessary numerous ana expensive deods not required by Public Trustee 1 * administratiou, which lias, besides, tho offloe solicitor's advico without expense to the estates. By all who know or havo experienced tho contingencies of private trusteeships the«e advantages must be appreciated.
