(PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, This Day. Mr C. F. Worth has retired from the contest for the city. Auckland, November 14. Alexander Fleming charged with landing 1,-lb of cigars, two gallons wines and spirits, on which the duty was not paid, was fined L 8 and L 2 6s costs. A close season has been proclaimed fer mullet between Cape Wiwiki and South Head, Waagaruru, in the interests of (he fish canning industry. A girl named Ellen Brickley, aged 16 years, swallowed half a box of matches to-night, and was sent to the hospital for treatment. A resolution has been passed by the New Zealand Political Association that, in view of the coming elections, the question as to Mr Ballance's wishes as to his successor should be cleared up, and that the secretary write to Sir Robert Stout and Mr Seddon respectfully asking for information. Invebcabgill, November 7. The infant daughter of Adam Fleming a farmer at Waikakfc Valley, was drowned to-day in a tub. The parents are away from home, having gone to the Christchurch agricultural show, and their address is not known.
