The Coming Elections
To-morrow night, in the Assembly Rooms, Mr John Stevens will address the electors on the political questions of the day, in support of his candidature for the Rangitikei seat. As Mr Stevens is well known in this district, where he has many old personal friends, we have overy confidence that he will receive, whnt a Feilding audience always gives, a fair and impartial hearing, Mr Stevens will ad.dress the electors at the Halcouibe Temperance Hall this evening. Mr Lethbridge will speak in the Birmingham Public Hall this c von ing, at 8 o'clock. At Campbelltown to-night, Mr Donald Fraser will express his views on the leading political questions of the day. He will speak at Shannon to-morrow night Mr G. M. Snelson, one of the candidates for the Pahnerston seat, had a very successful meeting at Ashurst on Saturday evening, and received a vote of thanks and confidence. Mr Fred. Pirnni has been obliged to alter the date of his Apiti meeting to I Saturday, November 25th, instead of Monday, the 27th, owing to the early period fixed for the election. Mr Pirani will address the electors in the Town Hall, Bunnythorpe, to-morrow evening. The political " platform " of Mr J. P. Leary, one of the candidates for the Palmers ton seat, is published over leader to day. The 20th December has been fixed as the date for the Maori elections, the nominations (0 be made by the 29th of November. Supplements to tho New Zealand Gazette were issued yesterday, containing notices of the issue of tho writs and the appointment of returning officers, the dates for the elections, and lists of the polling- places. „ We understand that Mr John Stevens had a most successful meeting at Marton last night, For somo reason, not easily accounted for, the Press Association agent there has omitted to forward us any ac count of it.
