We quote best New Zealand h<»ht-weigbtß nominally from Is to Is Id per lb, but there are few offering at present in the market Bacon (duty 2d per lb) has shown some improvement of late, and we at present quote best New Zealand to 8d per lb, and beat local hand-cured to 7d. Potatoes (duty 10s per ton)— The market during the past few weeks has remained rather quiet, New Zealands ranging up to £5 10s for best conditioned lots, while the few Circular Heads offering have been quoted to £6 per ton, local redskins bringing to £5 15s per ton. Within the past day or two, however, a large proportion of the New Zealand potatoes lately received have been transhipped to Victoria, and values have advanced in consequence, New Zealands now being quoted to £6 10s and best local redskins to £6 15s, the market closing firm at these figures. Fungus (free) is it anything a little firmer, and for best dried parcel 3Jd may now be quoted.
