The New Zealand Athletic team and a number of the New South Wales representatives have arrived to take part in the Championship Athletic Meeting next week. The gatherings promises to be the greatest success of its kind yet held. The remainder of the competitors will arrive on Saturday and Monday. The meeting begins on Thursday. Turner, who did not accompany the Australian eleven on the American tonr, has arrived home. In coarse of an interview he said a great deal of the team's weakness was due to the selfishness of individual members and bad management resulting in thorough disorganisation, and reprehensive conduct off and on the field, by one or two members had ruined the success of the tour. He was glad to be back as it had been the roost unsatisfactory trip he had ever undertaken. He thought the trip would undoubtedly injure the prestige of the Australian cricketers in England Sydney. A rumour, which is credited in many quarters, is current to the effect that Major-Geceral Hutton, the recently appointed Commandant of New South Wales forces hat resigned in consequence of the Government having reduced the military estimates by £30,000 despite the fact that the Commandant bad already reduced them by jE40,000.
