Mr Matthew Henry reports :— The supplies of both sheep and cattle to day were small. The attendance was also considerably under the usual. Bidding at the opening was dragging, but ultimately most of the stock changed hands at the following quotations : — Cattle — Yearling steers, £2 10a ; heifers, £2 7s 6J ; dairy cows, £A 10s. Sheep— Forward wethers, 10s ; forward ewes, 8s 3d ; store ewes, 6s lid ; medium hoggets, 9s Gd ; ewes and lambs, 12s Gd. The ordinary stock sale will not be held for a fortnight in consequence of the show. Messrs Abraham and Williams report as follows :— We held our usual sale at Colyton on Tuesday. A fair muster of stock came forward. Steers and joung cattle were w«ll competed for. Hoggets receded in value, most of the business being done fprivately. Ewes and lambs went back unsold. Cattle -Yearling steers, Jt'l 12s; 18---month to 2-year steers, £'d 5s to X' 3 Bs6d. Sheep. — Hoggets, 8s M to 11s 4d. Couchman and Stuart report— At our first month.v sale in the Manutahi sale yards on Tuesday, October '61st, there was a fair attendance of settlers from the surrounding districts, and prices were rather in favour of tho buyers owing to a sli»lit thiJnos§ Jin the bidding. The yards were fuirly well filled. Wo quote : — Cattle— Mixed yearlings, £2 10s ; 18 months old steers, JL'4 10s ; 2yr old steers, ft Is; 2yr old heifers, i.3 11s; milkers, £3 10s to AVJ tis OJ.
