Feilding Mutual Improvement Society

The last meeting of the first session of the Feilding Mntual Improvement Society was celebrated, last evening, with a fruit soiree, and was, undoubtedly, one of the most enjoyable meetings the Society has held. The attendance was very satisfactory, and the success of the gathering was due in a large measure to Mrs Clements and Miss Blackinore, who bad charge of the fruit and refreshments. A. number of lively parlor games were indulged in previous to the refreshments being handed round. Before the meeting dispersed, Mr Carty proposed a vote of thanks to the President and "Vice-president for the trouble they bad gone to in so successfully carrying through the first session. Mr Long seconded this motion. Mr Clement, replying to the kindly remarks made by Mr Carty, said he hoped to see some amusements promoted through the sum* mer month*, such as picnics or garden parties. He coucluded by proposing, Mr J. C. Thompson seconding, votes of thanks to the secretary, treasurer, and press. Each of the resolutions were carried by acclamation. The Her Mr Bar* nett gave a short address on the advantages of such societies as this, and said he would be glad to see any Feilding people in Wellington. The Uev Mr Clement announced that the Young People's Christian Endeavor class met in the Primitive Methodist Church everj Monday evening, and they would like as many as possible to attend. The meeting then closed in the usual manner.
