THE EANGITIKEI AND PAL MEKSTON SEATS. It is quite clear that political matters in this district, which iucludes the Kangitikeiand Palmerston electorates, promise to be both lively and interesting before polling day. Already there are three candidates for Eangi tikei, viz., Messrs Leth bridge, Ivess, and Stevens, while for Palmerstou there are also three, viz., Messrs Pirani, Snelsou, and J. P. Leary, but a fourth, Mr Jellicoe, is hinted at an a possible aspirant for political honors, and rumour has it that another gentleman, who before wooed the suffrages of the electors in that district, and very nearly succeeded in gaining the victory, will again be brought forward by hia admirers. It is interesting to note that a startling majority of these candidates are "in the liberal interest," but they quite ignore the fact that the Premier having nominated the several candidates he intends to support with Ministerial influence they are trenching on ground which they have no right even to attempt to occupy. Possibly, when the electors here have heard the political addresses which the candidates will no doubt give in the towns and villages round about Feilding, if not in the town itself, they will be able to form a tolerably correct idea as to what the views of all these candidates are on the varied subjects which will make up their political platforms. We are aware that the settlers are already becoming impatient in our portion of the Palmerston electorate. They have heard or read, what Mr Pirani had to say, and now, like Oliver Twist, they " want some more," not necessarily because the " skilly " was good, but to see what the rest will be like.
