The Attempted Murder Case
(PKR PRKSS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, October 19. This afternoon the depositions of the man James Blake, whose wife is in custody on a charge of having attempted to poison him, were taken at the Hospital. In answer to questions, Blake told Mr Martin, R.M., that he had no objection to any communications from him to his medical man being given by that gentleman in evidence. He also stated that he had not nscd any ointment since he left the Hospital on the 4th of Sep- , tember nor the month before that. About a fortnight ago, after taking some por ridge, he noticed a nasty taste in his mouth, besides pains in his head. Then ho ceased taking tho porridge, and for a time the pains went away, but they returned a day or two afterwards acutely, and again with an unpleasant taste. This concluded the man's evidence. As the party left the room, Mrs Blake, who had preserved an unconcerned demeanour throughout, kissed her husband "goodbye." Blake shows no improvement. The doctors state his system is impregnated with mercury.
