The New Dairy Expert.
Mr Charles Kiehard Valentine, whom Mr Perceval has just (elected to fill the post of chief dairj instructor to the Government of New Zealand, must be deemed to possess every qualification for the successful carrying out of his future duties. He holds the diploma of thb British Dairj Farmers' Association for butter and cheese malting, and the medal and first-class certificate of theB.M.A. and D.L. Society ; and has held, amongst other appointments, that of chief dairy instructor to the Staffordshire County Council, lecturer on dairying at the Uni« versity College, North Wales, and also to the Shropshire County Council. Lord Hatherton, the chairman of the Technical Instruction Committee testifies warmly to Mr Valentine's ability as a lecture and demonstrator, and to his energy and activity. During the past winter and spring Mr Valentine has been engaged in collecting material for a com. prehensive report on the dairy produce trade of the Antipodes with England for the Government of New South Wales. This he has just placed m the hands of S r Saul Samuel, who professes himself highly pleased with Mr Valentine's work. Mr Perceval was likewise impressed with the knowledge and grip of the subject displayed by Mr Valentine in the report, a copy of which he was allowed to see, under bound of secrecy as to it* contents. I have arranged to see Mr Valentine when he returns from the country, and may be able to giv« more information concerning him next mail. As at present arranged, he will leave for New Zealand at the end of September.— Home correspondent. ■
