(PEK PBESS ASSOCIATION.) London, October 14. One hundred and fifty inmates of the Greenwich workhouse are suffering from gastric cholera, and three deaths are reported. The New Oriental Bank declares a dividend of 8d in the pound, payable in January. The remaining assets are estimated to yield 5s in the pound. The Miners' Federation has refused to accept the terms proposed hy the Mayors, and insists on the payment of the old rates. About 200,000 men are still out. A Company for establishing co-oper-ative colonial stores is being formed with ;i cupital of a quarter of a million sterling. The company is under Australian auspices. At to-day's auction 6000 bales of woollen sheepskins were offered, most of which were sold at from \d to ]d above the prices realised in August. Homeward freights are improving. Numerous schemes for the reconstruction of the New Zealand Loan and Mer cantile Agency have been submitted, but no decision has yet been arrived at. Owing to ihe weather the price of coal has fallen 8s per ton. Al r Chamberlain has expressed the opinion in a political address that it is now impossible for the Liberals and the Unionists to re-unite. He is certain that ihe Tories will return with such a majority after the nest election that they will be enabled to act independently of the Irish section. Brussels, October 14. An OstendrDover mail stenmer ran down a Danish barque, and five lives were lost. Chicago, October 14. The Exhibition Commissioners assign New South Wales twenty awards for bituminous coal. Calcutta, October 14. The Afghans have repulsed a Russian outpost whilst attempting to cross the Shignan-Roshou Platean. Paris, October 14. The French Government has ordered the construction of three ironclads, the armaments of which are to be formidable and unique. Washington, October 14. A receiver has been appointed for the Union Pacific Railway Compaaj. The third heat for the American Cup resulted to-day in a victory for the Valkyrio. A collision took place today between au excursion and an ordinary train at Jackson, on the Michigan Central Rail way It is believed that 150 were killed or injured. News from Brazil states that two of the President's battalions have joined the rebels, and it is uxpected others will follow,
