HUMPHRIES THE Public Trust Office of New Zealand is a Government institution to afford, at low rates Of Commission, a secure iinil convenient recourse for those who, desirous of lormius trusts in the colony, c-annut satisfactorily appoint private trustt-os or executors, nnd for persons unablo or unwilling to undertake or continue the administration of the trusts accepted by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by '"The Public Trust Ollico Act, 1t>72," has been siuce much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to incut growing requirements. The Amendment Act, of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at the discretion of the l'ublic Trustee, and insures the regular payment of the interest. The Security and Fidelity of the Pub. lie Trustee's administration must bo considered of tho utmost importance) to every person contemplating the appointment of a trustee. The colony guarantees the fidelity of the administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at the option of the Public Trustee. The Colony Cuarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in tho Public Trust Oflice, a common rate of interest, to be paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The value of this puaranteo is in tho Guarantee of the Colony against io»a | from investments in bad or Insufficient ßecurities, and against loss from delay in invest- , raent, and for the regular and punctual payment of the interest, free of all charges of the. Public Trust Office. In the appointment of Trustees there must always be seriOUS concern as to the security of the capital funds: and the larger the capital funds tho greater must be the concern for security, aud the less for a high rate of interest. The Public Trustee cannot die, ' cannot leave the colony, cannot become- disqualified, or involved in private difliculties, aud cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death aud absencerender necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustees administration, which has, besides, tho omoe solicitor's advice without expeuso to the estates.
