We held a clearing sale of Mr Gardiner's milch cows, sold consequent upon the havoc done to his grass by recent floods, the stock suffered in condition largely by passing through such an ordeal. Prices ranged from £$ to £5 15s, according to age and quality, and notwithstanding the circumstances abote alluded to, buyers had the best of the bargain. Some hoggets entered by other vendors went back unsold. , , , „. At Palmerston yesterday we had a tall yard of sheep and cattle. Good value was on offer, but throughout buyers acted cautiously. Prices receded somewhat, bnt almost everything chonged hands. Cattle— Medium fat bullocks, £7 Gs to to JE9 15s ; lighter oxen, £6 17s 6d. and a line sold privately during the week at ±8 12s; fat cows, £5 7s 6d to £6; forward bullocks, £6; 2-V-year steers, £4 13s to i.'_ 16 ; others, £4 8s to £4 10s ; springing heifers, £5 5s to £5 8s 6d ; young heifers, £3 12a 6d to £3 18s; yearlings to 18 months, £2 ls to £2 18s 6d ; yearling steers, £2 4s 6d to £2 18s 6d ; weaners, 28s. Sheep— Fat ewes, 13. 6d; mixed (shorn) 9s 6d ; forward ewes, lis 6d ; store ewes, 10s 3d to 10s 7d ; hoggets, 12s 2d to 12s 9d ; poor to medium do, 73 9d to lis od ; store wethers, 12s 6d to 13s 4d ; ewes and lambs, lis 9d to 12s 2d.
