It is understood the Minister for k Lands bas concluded the purchase, from , John Douglas, (Mount Koyal), of his , Pnmahaka Estate adjoining the famed Clydesdale estate. Tue area is 7,462 acres, and the price about £2 10s per | acre. A portion of the estate, and not the best of it, formerly realised £3 12s. Mr H. 9. Fish, M.H.8., was presented \ last night with an address welcoming him I back from his arduous duties, thanking , him for his zeal and assiduity, and ex- . pressing a hope that he may long be , spared to represent the people in Parlia* ' ment. The address, which was presented by A. Sligo, bore oyer a thousand signs- ' tures. The Mayor presided, and referred I to the services Mr Fish had rendered to local bodies. Invercargill, October 12. A drapery firm was fined 2s 6d and \ costs for employing to two young women after 6 o'clock on Saturday. For using obscene language, a woman was sentenced to a month's hard labor. . Chbistchubcii, October 12. J Mr Troup, proprietor of the Crown Ironwoks, sustained a bad fracture of the thigh by a bicycle accident to-day.
