An examination of officers for commissions was held here yesterday. The Board of Examinors, Lieut.- Colonel Neirall, and Cant. Watt, met at the Den. bigh Hotel in tbe afternoon. The candidates were Capt. Sutcliffe and Lieut. Parker, of the Bangitikei Bojal Rifles, Capt. Kirton and Lieut. Bnrlace, of tbe Manchester Rifles, and Lieut. McKenzie, of the Bangitikei Cavalry. In the evening the Manchester Rifles were paraded in the Assembly Booms, when tbe candidates were put through a very strict and careful examination in practical drill. At the conclusion of the parade Lieut.Col. Newall expressed himself much pleased with the men for their steadiness and patience under what was a somewhat trying ordeal. He ordered that it should count as a parade for erery member present. The results of the examinations will not be known for some little time, but there is reason to believe they were als together satisfactory.
