Messrs Edwards & M'Beath report for wages Ust week as follows :— Married couples, £70 to £90 ; carpenters, 10s ; bricklayers, 12* ; blacksmiths, 9s to 10s ; painters and glazier*, 10s ; plumbers and jtasfittera, 9« to 10s ; storeinen, 42s to 60s ; draymen 42s to 50s ; coalmen, 30s to 355; grooms, 25s to 35s ; gardeners, 6s to 8s ; farm bauds, 15s to 255 ; milkmen, 25s to 27s ; hotel men, 20s to 40s ; barmaids 25s to 3os; waitresses, 16s to 20s. cooks, 25s to 40s; female do, 25« to 355 ; house* maids 12* to 20s ; general servants, 10s to 14s; nursegirls. and boys 7« to 15s. There is a slight decrease in demand.
