TPer Pre«s Association.] * Wblunoton, October 2. The Registrar at New Plymouth refused to enrol a woman because she had been away three weeks. The urn tter lias been reported to the Government, and tbe Attorney-General holds that the Registrar is wrong, and that if residence is established in the district for thrte months that is sufficient, even though the claimant has uot lived there continously. Mr Downie Stewart holds the same yiew, and the difficulty is dealt with in the £ Amending Act. ™ A large meeting of women was held this evening at the Salvation Barracks to return thanks for receiving franchise. They were addressed by several ladies and clergymen, who urged women to take advantage of the privilege «nd return men of moral worth. About 100 enrolled. Over 2000 applications for enrolment have been made by women in Wellington. mmmmmmm _ mmim _
