A London telegram published to-day re Lonn and Mercantile Company is contrary to advices previously received by the Auckland office that the creditors and debenture holders had agreed upon a reconstruction scheme and ihe general manager has received no advices since, tending to throw doubt upon the belief that a basis of reconstruction, satisfac* tory to all parties, has been nrrircd nt. London, September 27. Tt is reported that Baron Schroder, one of the creditors of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., is pressing his claim against the company for priority over tho assets, and insists on full payment in cash. Tbe directors are conferring with him, with a view to an amicable settlement. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's 4 per cent debentures are quoted at 75.J-.
