The Public Trust Office, constituted by "The I'ublic Trust Ollice Act, 1872," has been since much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to inoet growing recmirements. The Amendment Act of IH9I facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at tho discretion ol tho i'ublic Trustee, aud insures tho regular payment of the interest. The Security and Fidelity of the Pub. I lie Trustee's administration must bo considered of tho utmost importance to every person contemplating tho appointment of a trustee. The colony guarantees tlw fidelity of tho administration, and Guarantees aISO the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at the option of tho i'ublic Trustee. The Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of tho properties placed in tho I'ublic Trust Ollice, & common rate of interest, to bo paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. In tho appointment of Trustees thero must always be serious concern as to the security of the capital funds; and the larger the capital funds the greater must be tho concern for security, and the less for a high rate of mterost. Tho Public Trustee cannot die, cannot leave the colony, cannot become disqualified, or involved in private diuiculties; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absence render necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by I'ublic Trustee b administration, which has, besides, tho office solicitor's advice without oxponso to the estates.
