CHRISTCHURCH UNEMPLOYED.
The Christchurch unemployed are noth- | ing if not amusing. They held a meeting i a few days ago when the following interesting document was read : — " To His Worship the Mayor — We, the unemployed, finding that our so-called Legislators do not legislate so as to enable us to live ; and, finding that they are pilfering, robbing, and burglarising us, ■ we ask you to step between us and the ( robbers. We intend to havo the means [ of living through political and Bocial rights, and if we are not successful through Your Worship wo are prepared 1 for the future in ways which will be ex< plained by -and -bye." This terribly threatening production was telegraphed to the Government. The Premier gaye - these people a " proper setting down "on a former occasion, aud no doubt he will find leasure to give them another refresh- , ing " taste of his quality."
