Education Board.
The usual monthly meeting of the Education Board was begun last night, Present — Messrs Notrnan (Chairman), Baker, Beckett, Bridge, Fry, and Carson. A. Welcome — Mr Notman, on behalf of the Board, expressed his pleasure at seeing Mr Carson back. — Mr Carson responded with thanks. The following appointments were niaile and other business done in Committee :-VMarton — The resignation of Miss Mar\' Lisby was accepted, Sanson — Mr H. Bowater was appointed from Sanson to the Upper Tutaemu School, Miss Edith Innes, cadet Campbelltown street (Palmerston) to be transferred to be pupil teacher at Sanson. Bulls— A letter re late teacher from the Education Department was received. Building Grant — A telegram was read from the Department on this subject, and it was resolved to send a wire to the Government in reply to the effect that the building grant of L 3200 was quite inadequate to the wants of the district, seeing that the present overdraft and liabilities would absorb about L 2400 of that sum. Ohingaiti— On the motion of Mr Bridge it was resolved that an aided school be offered for Three-Log Whare, seven miles beyond Ohingaiti ; also that the Minister be informed thereof, and it be pointed out that this is another instance of the pressing wants of funds. Waituua — The matter of redefining the district was referred to Mr Fry to report upon at the next meeting. Notice of motion — Mr Bridge gave notice of his intention to rnoye, " That in computing salaries of teachers in the June (1893) quarterly returns the working average be calculated instead of the strict average." The meeting then adjourned till 10 o'clock this morning.— Chronicle.
