THE DRAINAGE QUESTION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir,— l am glad to see that " Health " and " Reason " are making a stir on the subject of the drainage of the town. It is certainly a necessity, and every effort Bhould be brought to bear to get it done. Tho most practical plan that I can see is to borrow money for the purpose, and make a three feet brick and cement barrel drain along Manchester street to the Oroua. All side streets to be drained into it, say, twelve inch pipes, where the distance is short, and make all existing and new bnildings drain into it, the Borough making connection with main sewer and charging the same to householders. Of course as tho town grows another main could be put down in Denbigh street. Unless something is done we must expect some severe epidemic. I am, etc., Benj. Gosling. Feilding, September 26th. 189 a.
