MERRY BACHELOR is a dark bay, standing 16 hands 2 inches high, and is 8 years old this foaling; he has immense bone and muscle, splendid temper, and a really good constitution ; he has a sound flat bone, well wearing legs and fine action. Pedigree— He kas taken first prize in Palmerston as improving weight carrying hacks. Merry Bachelor is by Defamer, by Traducer (imp), dam Nora, by Peter Flat (imp), New Zealand Stud Book ; Defamer is by Traducer, dam Emmeline ; Traducer by Libel, dam Arethusa, by Ellis out of Languid ; Emmeline by Slight of Hand, Junior out of Emma, by Gil Bias, out of Emily ; by Operator out of Flora Mclvor ; by Emigrant out of Cornelia ; by Grapshopper (vide English Stud Book). As a four or fivo years old he travelled the Peninsula, and has got really goodlooking youngsters, his pedigree being undeniable.
