Manawatu Road Board
The adjourned meeting of the above \ea» held at Palmerston yesterday. Presen t — Wardeno Knight (chairman) Stubbs, and Stevens. Corespondonce was read from Messrs Kirton and Curtis, applying for a share of the Board's advertising. Warden Stubbs expressed the opinion that tho Board should use every effort to get all tho advertising done by tho local papers as soon as possiblo. From Messrs E. and T. Faulkner and H. Pickering, Buunythorpo, asking tho Board to spend their deferred thirds on JanW Lino and Faulkner's road.Eequeßt granted, Engineer to draw out specifications and call tenders for work requested. From the Treasury Department stating that the i:600 loan for the construction of the Bunny thorpe-Kairanga and the Karere roads had been placed to the credit of the Board at the Bank. The Chairman reportod that tho protective works near the Awahuri bridgo would be improved by tho plantiug of ■willows, and he was authorised to employ a man to plant willows for three or four days. It was decided to instruct the roadman to carry out some necessary repairs on tho Stouey Creek- Buuny thorpe road near Mr Sewell's residence. The Chairmau reportod that sotno protective works were required near the Man. gaone bridge, and it was resolved that the work be carried out at once under his supervision. The Secretary was instructed to sue for all outstanding rates as early as possible The Board then adjourned.— Times.
