In the Council the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill was further considered in committee. Colonel "Whitmoro moved to excise clause 47, which contains the crux of the Bill in regard to arbitration, inasmuch os it provides for setting up a Court of Arbitration for the whole colony for settlement of industrial dispute". The motion was carried by 20 to 17 and the clause struck out. Mr Montgomery said the amendment just curried woufd necessitate the re« modelling of the Bill in so fur as conciliation clauses were concerned, and he therefore moved that progress be reported. This was agreed to.
