In addition to the railway votes montiouod in tho Statement, the following are amongst the sums proposed for additions to open linos : — Napier- Paltnerston £240 ; Wellington- Woodvillo. £2053; MartouTe Awamutu, south end, £145 ; FoxtouPatea, £700 ; Patea-Waitara, £1970. Uuder the heading ' Public Buildings ' there aro new votes as follows :—Government Houso. Wellington, ©Jectrioligbt installation, painting, refurnishing, re* pairs, &c, LIOOO ; Parliamentary Build* inga, partial rebuilding, electric hghtiug, &c, L 5000; Parliamentary Buildings, custodian's lodgo (repairs), L 174 ; Departmental Buildings, Wellington, storeroom for records, printing office, &c, L3OOO. Amongst the votes for new Courthouses are the following ; — Palmerston North, £2000 ; New Plymouth, £1300 ; Stratford, £700 ; Pahiatua, ±900, and £350 for tho purchase of a site ; Featherston, £400 ; Otaki, £400. Tho votes for new Post Oflice.s include : — Pabiatua, L6OO ; Hawera, L7OO. The votes for roads to give access to Marton -Te • Awamutu Railway include L 15.000 for tho Ongaruhe-Stratford road, LSOOO for the Hunterville-Turangarere road, L3OOO for the T urangarere»Tokaanu road, and L7OOO for the Ohakune-Pipiriki road. There are, however, certain outstanding liabilities on these worjes. Amongst the votes for roads and bridges in the Wellington District are tho following : — Rangitikei bridge, Otara, L12")0; bridge at Vinegar Hill, L 125 0; Wanganui River Trust, L 20 0; Watershed Road, L7OOO ; Eketahuna- Stirling road, L3OO ; Wellington Settlement Forest Reserve, L2OO ; Palmereton North Forest Reserve, L4OO ; Waikanae - Hutfc road, L 50 0; Stirling Association, L 493 ; Hall Association, L 45 0; Waiwera Block, L-100 ; Kakariki Block, L 53 2; Coonoor, L3OO ; Mount Baker (Pioneer), L 1505 ; Pohangina, L2OO. The vote for schoolbuildings is L 15,000, and for harbour defences, LSOOO. The following are Totes under the heading 'Agricultural ' : — Hawera, office, LIOO ; Momahaki, curator's house, etc., LtOO ; Danenrke, house and oflice, L 300; Masterton, office, LIOO. There is a vote of L 2400 for Stephen, s Island lighthouse. The sum of L 350 is proposed for repairs to the jetty at ooaraes' Island quarantine station. There is a vote of L3OO for the Wellington Lunatic Asylum. In the Public Works Department there are the followinc increases of salary :— Chief clerk; L 25 ; uccouutant, L3O; chief engineer, LlO. There is one engineer at h'SoO, and one clerk at L 175 in addition to the staff of last year. : i
