The War at Rio Janiero.
PROGRESS OF THE REBELS. MURDER OF A NEWSPAPER MAN. AN ADMIRAL SHOOTS HIS LIEUTENANT. (per pbkss association.) Washington, September 19. News from Brazil states Santa Cruz has surrendered to the insurgents, and in consequence the President Priscoto has abandoned his coast position. Letters received from Rio declare nil the ports except Santa Cruz are either neutral or have favored the rebels. Three rebel warships have sailed to blockade Santos It is expected that the President will succumb. Loyal officers have been murdered, also a newspaper editor who was a supporter of the rebels. The rebellion is spreading inland. The rebel Admiral shot liis deputy and Marino Lieutenant for attempting to discourage the rising. Rio Janikko, September 19. The city has again been bombarded. London, fcept. 19. Sir E. Grey stated in the House that three English men-o'-wor nt Kio de Janeiro would co-operate with those of other nations in protecting ihe shipping. Trade with the city was piralyscd.
